Oh, Sir Paul. Please just shut up and stop embarrassing - TopicsExpress

Oh, Sir Paul. Please just shut up and stop embarrassing yourself. In an interview promoting Hope for the Future, his new song included in the FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER video game Destiny, Paul McCartney expressed distaste for the way young people consume music through tinny-sounding cell phone speakers. First time I heard the Beatles it was on a transistor radio with a 1-1/2 speaker. The AM radio transmission had a frequency bandwidth of about 4 or 5 kHz. (While a young teen could probably hear as high as 20 kHz or even a little higher. CDs can go that high. Even MP3s can, depending on the settings when they are created.) It would be surprising to find even dollar store earbuds that didnt reproduce well over 10 kHz (though bass might well be lacking -- but nothing like the tinny sound of that shirt-pocket transistor radio). But, audio ironies notwithstanding -- what REALLY caught my eye in the RS lede to this article was the man who wrote All You Need Is Love including a song called Hope for the Future in -- seriously, folks -- a FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER GAME! You know, you have a gun and you go around and shoot everyone you see. For points. To win. All you need is love -- and an endless supply of virtual ammo.
