BUSHFIRE UPDATE FROM RFS The fire burning in the area of Dudley and Redhead, south-west of Newcastle, is now at Watch and Act due to current weather conditions. Current Situation - There has been an increase in fire activity due to winds. People in the area need to remain vigiliant and monitor the current situation. Firefighters are conducting backburning operations between Dudley and Redhead. Operations will be taking place between the Fernleigh Track and Redhead Road. Smoke from these backburning operations will be visible in the area and will be moving east towards the coast. More than 100 firefighters, including a strike team from Victoria, are on the scene. Advice - Monitor conditions in your area. Dudley and Redhead residents are asked to remain vigilant as conditions may change. Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option. Road Closures - Several local roads have been closed due to firefighting operations.
