Back in 1980 when I was on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) - TopicsExpress

Back in 1980 when I was on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) during a Steel Beach stand down r&r day, an F14 from the USS Connstellation (CV 65) did a low-pass fly going near mach one. Just like in this video before most of the hundreds of personnel on the flight deck that day didnt see him coming and only realized he was passing right as he did. He was about 150 ft off of our port side at about 75-100 ft above sea level. At that speed the sound and sight of him make you feel like the tip of his wing was going to touch you. Awesome and scary!
