#Bali Day 43 - An update on Phoebe and what worked for us - Thank you so much everyone for all your kind thoughts, and prayers. Blood results yesterday were very good and picking up info today. Here platelet count rose from 94 to 200 with all the great advice given over the past 48 hours! Here is the advice we were given and what we followed - we loaded Phoebe up with fresh local juices from - Wayan Juice Bar who were amazing! We rang urgently requiring Red Guava juice & Coconut water ordered by the doctor, plus Papaya Leaf and Lime recommended by local Balinese - they rang about Ubud to find the Guava and it was here in 20 mins. We added in Electrolytes suggested by our NZ Doctor while we were waiting for the go for antibiotics. Lots of water, checking her intake her 30 mins. Took her for her blood test around lunch time - blood flowed beautifully. Temperature and chills still in the afternoon however Doctor said she was past the worst of the Dengue (Not sure what level as I need to pick up the report) it was Day 7 yesterday. She has not been diagnosed with Typhoid as such but she does have an infection, she started antibiotics for the infection yesterday and is healing really well. She has also started on some vitamins and anti-oxidants. Energy level rising and appetite coming back. Thanks so much to Emma and Lara for recommending the painkilling spray - which was not at the surgery ( it made a huge difference to Phoebe.) We have found the Balinese people to be so lovingly thoughtful and caring during this ordeal. Our landlord and land lady visited us twice:) The doctor and nurses at Toya Medika are amazing - because Phoebe was dehydrated and it was hard to find her veins to take blood after 2 attempts from the Doctor she called back into work her Specialist nurse (who takes blood from babies and the elderly.) We waited 2 hours all up so that they could make it less painful for Phoebe, and then they called us at 10.30pm at night to say they would make a house call because there was not enough serum in the blood sample. AMAZING!!! The last time I had a call out from a doctor in NZ was in 1966, and the last attempts for a blood test in the Hutt Hospital was horrific. Our Angel is still sleeping and wants to go to the Tattoo display in Ubud today. In the meantime we moved into our new house in Nyuh Kuning all on the same day...and we love it!
