Ban imposed on Import, Sale, Distribution and Uses of Asbestos in Nepal On 22 December 2014, the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Science Technology and Environment (MOSTE) as per the provision of Environment Protection Act 1997 imposed a ban on import, sale, distribution and use of asbestos. This decision helps to protect human health as well as environment from negative consequences of asbestos. The problem of asbestos has increased all over Nepal as people are not aware at all about the carcinogenicity of asbestos.
