Beautiful Fudge getting her medal off young Owen yesterday. Fudges story is that she helped her master Craig deal with PTSD. He had returned from active combat many years before but battling the silent killer that is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was the fight of his life. He was attending a Combat Stress retreat with other veterans with PTSD when he asked for permission for Labrador Fudge to visit. The effect on all the other guys was amazing and the calming unconditional love Fudge provided was amazing. Fudge will wake Craig from a night terror, she will calm him during a panic attack and fetch medication. She will lead him out of a distressing situation if he gives her a code word. She will even give him a hug if he needs one. Craig realised that animal assisted therapy could be a massive help for other returning troops with PTSD and started the amazing Veterans with Dogs in 2012. They are already helping lots of people but demand for assistance far exceeds what they are yet able to provide - they need lots of help raising funds and would love more volunteers. This is a young forward-facing charity using the most modern, positive methods and working with experts in every field. In other countries PTSD support is already saving lives.
