Before he went to heaven to sing with the angels, H.K. Phiri was a crook, in every sense of the word. He never inspired confidence in his neighbours, who saw him as the epitome of what was wrong in their area. Strangely, no one knew what he did. His trade, if he had one that is, was done in utter secrecy. He was a strange man, H.K Phiri. Different rumours of him continued to circulate in the neighbourhood. For instance, some said big men, the politicians of the land, came to consult him at his residence at night. Some said he was a satanic worshipper, for how would one be so rich and yet no one knew what he did?Perhaps, he was indeed satanic. Some said even though he was married, to a beautiful woman to say the least, he never enjoyed the conjugals. His only requirement from a woman was that she presses the insides of his thighs near the genital area,that was satisfying to him. He was a strange man indeed,H.K. Phiri. He always claimed that he was catholic, a good and practising catholic, but he never set his foot inside a cathedral. Actually, the only relic he had was a gold cross which he made sure was exposed when he had people around him. However, the catholics refused to sing at his funeral. There was chaos which was only quelled when a certain prophet and his pathetic followers came and started to sing and chant. He claimed H.K. Phiri returned tithe to his ministry. He was a strange man, H.K Phiri.
