Behistun inscription of Darius I Behistun Inscription which dates back to 400 BC is a multi-lingual inscription located on Mount Behistun in the Kermanshah Province of Iran, near the town of Jeyhounabad. It shows Darius I the great, King of Persia and 2 royal guards behind him and 9 rebels in front of him. The inscription includes three versions of the same text, written in three different cuneiform script languages: Old Persian, Elamite, and Babylonian. The inscription is approximately 15 metres high by 25 metres wide, and 100 metres up a limestone cliff from an ancient road connecting the capitals of Babylonia and Media (Babylon and Ecbatana).
