Being misunderstood is one of life’s hardest experiences. When - TopicsExpress

Being misunderstood is one of life’s hardest experiences. When we function out of our best selves and those around us offer an interpretation that signifies something much much different…there’s nothing more difficult to face. The question is…when we those that we love miss the mark on who we truly are, what do we do? There has been a principle that I have tried to live by during the last few years that says “a soft answer turns away wrath”. Now, during times when we feel as though we are being completely misrepresented our nature is to defend, to attack and to prove. It becomes completely counterintuitive to offer the softness in an apology or lay down the need to defend our position. Being wrong is something that cross-culturally we hate. Most of us would lose more than we care to admit in defense of being right yet in the end none of it is worth it. This note is inconclusive except for the nudge to accept the uncomfortable stance in laying down defenses for the sake of peace- even if its just your own☺ sleep well xoxo
