Below I told my 9/11 story in straight writing. Here is the poetry version. Several of my FB friends like to write poetry and got me into doing the same, so I wrote one too. My September 11 story Written by Samuel Barsky 9/11/14 September 11, 2001 Started out as a normal day Woke up, was emailing with my mom She told me of new books about weird 911 calls I told her funny youre telling me today, todays date is 9/11 Then off to water aerobics as always Turn on the car, turn on the radio, a song I like is playing After the song ends, I song I dont like comes on Flip stations, hear static that sounded like news, knew it had to be bad A few seconds went by, felt much longer Heard an emotional voice say The second tower of the World Trade Center has collapsed A few more moments of silence, feels even longer than that The voice goes on, says both the Twin Towers and the Pentagon have been hit by planes Many minutes pass, took time to absorb what happened Then I saw public buses stopped in their tracks Tried to call mom, line was busy Tried to get info on dad, he works in DC In set the panic and fear Possible death toll 100,000 I hear I cant take this Went to the pool, couldnt exercise, but really needed support from friends Spent most of the day glued to the TV
