Below is a link to an opinion piece by Ben Cooter Jones posted yesterday August 14, 2014 for the Times Dispatch. In it, Ben discusses his disagreement with Washington and Lee University President Kenneth Ruscio to remove the Confederate flag from the burial place of Robert E. Lee. It is a well thought out piece, and deserving of engaged conversation and respectful debate. Anyone who knows Ben would agree that his stance on this issue should in no way indicate racism on his part. His opinion comes from a place of wishing to honor our past without feeling pressured to erase it.
