Betty Lucille (Nutt) Stansberry Cox Age 81, passed due to the development of pulmonary blood clots while awaiting surgery at Camden Clark Medical Center on July 22, 2014. She was born in Ritchie County, WV on November 24, 1932, joining her father, Orlando Guy Nutt, her mother, Pearl Rexroad Nutt, brothers, Guy Jr. and Carl, and sister, Olive Mae. According to her sister, her arrival on Thanksgiving “Really spoiled dinner that year.“ She was a 1950 graduate of Harrisville High School and had been looking forward to attending the reunion on July 25th until her scheduled surgery created the need to cancel her reservation. She was also a 1990 graduate of the Wood County Vocational School of Practical Nursing. She received the West Virginia 1990 Student of the Year award. Prior to, and following her nursing school graduation, she worked at the Pine View Continuous Care Center where she received the Caring Practices Employee of the Year Award in 1988, given in recognition of her commitment to quality patient care and leadership demonstrated at the facility. Betty was a member of the the Murphytown United Methodist Church and in recent months, the Amedisys Hospice of Parkersburg Bereavement Support Group. Preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister, first husband, Charles Wayne Stansberry, Sr., second husband, Francis “Frank” Wendell Cox and son, Stephen Michael Stansberry. Betty is survived by her children: Rosalinda Brown, Merino Valley, California, Teresa (Allen) Wilson, Washington, DC, Cathy (Michael) Eckard, Portland, Oregon, Charles “Chuck” Stansberry, Dayton, Ohio, Roxanna (Kenneth) Price, Export, PA, Janetta Hampton, Cumberland, MD, Karlson Stansberry, Cumberland, MD, Jason(Debbie) Stansberry, Cumberland, MD; step-children: Mary Ann Testerman, Delbarton, WV, Carolyn Cox, Martinsburg, WV, Judy (Jim) Prusack, Grantsville, WV and Sandra Cox, Delbarton, WV; grandchildren: Jessica, Eric, Nathan, Hannah, Stephanie Erin(Michael), Matthew(Stephanie Louise), Joshua(Tiana), Andrew, Jeremy, Katrina(Travis), Timothy(Kennedy), Jennifer(Ryan), Mark, Jordan, Megan(Jaison), Angela(Chris), Chris, Shonna, Krystal and great-grandchildren: Zachary, Ava, Olivia, Adelle, Caleb, Ella, Gabriel, Brandon, Carter, Abrielle, Jillian, Aaron, Austyn, Kaitlyn, Daymian, Garren, Ruby and Amber. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, July 28, 2014 at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville with Rev. Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Chevauxdefrise Cemetery, Washburn, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM. We give thanks for the life of the Nutt family’s Thanksgiving Day surprise, Betty Lucille Nutt Stansberry Cox. We love you Mom!
