Bill, I have been trying to get in touch with you for about 100 - TopicsExpress

Bill, I have been trying to get in touch with you for about 100 years. You and I grew up together in Philadephia, however, I would not have known you then, but YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN ME!!! You know why? I was the only white kid in the entire school. My parents had a little mom and pop store in the neighborhood and I remember playing with FAT ALBERT....along with the rest of the gang who stole the wheels off of my skates to make little scooters from the wooden milk cartons. I remember how the rich kid on the block got a brand new tennis ball and the boys would play that thing to its death; right down to the half ball..... My birthday is just 2 months after yours, 9/22/37... so being in that neighborhood and having just one school it was obvious that we were in the same class... My kindergarten teachers name was Mrs. Thompson and she was also black. I was chubby and white and stood out like a sore thumb and wanted to be black so very bad...I made my mother buy me a colored doll for Christmas after I killed my white doll. All my little friends would try and braid my long dark straight hair into little sections and in order to make them stand up, I would steal bacon grease from my store and rub it all over my hair, thinking that would work...one could smell me a mile away. I remember all the little kids coming into my store and dipping their dirty hands into the large pickle barrel yelling I wants a JEW pickle....emphasis on the JEWWWW part. My dad, Mr. Mib would always correct them saying, it is called a JEWISH pickle. I also remember your brother Russell because I loved that name and thought about naming my first born son Russell, but I dont remember you....I think we had a few Williams in our classes... I sure hope you get to read this Bill Cosby. Oh, by the way I auditioned to try and get onto one of your game shows, hoping I could meet you, but your crew turned me away... I qualified too...(so unfair)...Your stories are my stories. Joy Ray of Salem, OR (formerly Joyce Budnick of Philadelphia, born 9/22/37)
