Blessings Fall to Earth Like the Rain ... The rain falls to the ground and brings forth herbs and edibles. That same rain also brings forth weeds, thorns and briers. Likewise, God allows blessings to fall on the just and the unjust, the righteous and the unrighteous, his children and all the people of the world. However, that ground which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose END is to be burned. If you dont pull the weeds from your lawn, theyll takeover. The same amount of rain falls to the ground, but watch and see for yourself; the grass will grow, but the weeds will grow faster and taller than the grass. But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation .... In other words, he didnt want them to just live, get all the worldly blessings they can hold [all the money, all the fame, all the admiration, etc] and if they were like a seed or a herb in the ground, and they take in all the rain, the sunshine, the nutrients from the soil, etc.; he wanted MORE than that for them, namely, not just a good life, but ETERNAL LIFE. Its good to be saved. Its good to be blessed, but without Christ, all of those blessings and goodness will one day come to an end. The author didnt want that to happen to the beloved Hebrews. He didnt want them to live a blessed life and then end up burned up!!! ...
