Blown away. As I walk into the cathedrals add-on, a few minutes - TopicsExpress

Blown away. As I walk into the cathedrals add-on, a few minutes late for 5:30 mass, I see Father Rudy walking down as I hurriedly scale the stairs without falling. He reaches out his hand and says It is SO good to see you!, and the first words out of my mouth as I grab his hand were Hi Father, IM LATE. And his response, Youre here. BOOM. Although being tardy is a sign of disregard for the time of others, it is also a habit that has been created, as I fall under the producer category with magical thinking, and can be changed. With added pressure of self-judgment, it was so nice to be received so warmly, without judgement. To justify constant tardiness, to self and others, is exhausting, so why is it still happening? One, thinking it takes 10 minutes to drive anywhere is ridiculous. Two, thinking it takes 20 minutes to get ready is a lie. Three, thinking a work out, doing laundry, making a latte, getting ready, and putting on my bracelets takes 30 minutes is absolutely outrageous. Dancing in the mirror takes about 15 of those minutes… SO why is it still happening? Because as hard as you work on changing behavior, a new habit isnt formed until you also change your thoughts. Were a society of being busy doing, with not enough being busy BEING. Without realizing the WHY to what we do, there is no purpose, intention, focus, and we are lost amongst the day to day tasks, responsibilities, errands, and activities, because it is easier to DO than to BE. It is easier to fill a day with noise than with silence. It is easier to put focus on the outside rather than the inside. Simplicity is in being. WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR ME TO GRASP THAT?! Because I want to HAVE it all right now; forget about patience, the journey, the path to enlightenment, becoming awake, aware. HOWEVER, in order to have, you must first be, then do; Be, Do, Have. Instead of labeling self as tardy, change your mind. Trade in the criticism and judgment for self-love and acknowledgment of perfection and whats right with you. BE the beacon of light. BE an example. THEN inspire. AND empower. Change your mind, change your habits, change your life. In the words of Drake, better late than never, but never late is better.
