Bodies of Work would like to recommend a great show for you to see! MONROE, written and performed by Amber Hargroder, and directed by Cheryl Kaplan Zachariah, premiers at the Public House Theatre in Chicago. It is a solo show about the life and death of Marilyn Monroe that opens at 9:30 pm on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Public House Theatre located at 3914 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL. It plays Fridays at 9:30 through October 4th. Many people are familiar with iconic moments from her career, but few know the details concerning the life of Marilyn Monroe. This one-woman show explores her history – the person behind the infamous personae - from her divorces, struggles with Twentieth Century Fox, and multiple suicide attempts to her ongoing battle with mental illness. Often we forget that this “goddess” was a human being with flaws and imperfections, as well as strengths and virtues. MONROE depicts a woman who fought, who loved and who, most of all, dared to try.
