Booking agents/talent buyers who start a line of communication - TopicsExpress

Booking agents/talent buyers who start a line of communication with a band and then fall off the face of the earth because you feel that you can, especially after placing a hold on a date.. The same etiquette applies to you as does for anyone involved in any business interaction. Music bookers are the only people Ive ever worked with who consistently have terrible communication habits, although there are great ones and plenty of them. By and large though, in the club circuit, bands are subjected to this constantly and expected to accept it if they want the dates. It can be a big waste of time and its really lame. Put your business socks on and wear them. Basic stuff. Be consistent. Return emails. Make a plan and keep it, etc. The same thing is expected of anyone with even the most entry level sales job. ei: you would get fired from radio shack. But... since you are the keeper of the gig, we are expected just to deal with it and thats the norm. Cest la vies. Not calling anyone out in particular, though not sorry if I strike a nerve with anyone. On a run of booking dates right now and experiencing the same thing I always do. Some real pros, some total flakes, and some in between. Thanks to all who make yourselves available and reliable.
