Bow Valley Hockey Society is looking for a Manager of Hockey Operations - please see below: Position: Manager of Hockey Operations Start Date: August 2013 (negotiable) Status: Part-time employment * seasonal employment may be considered Hours: On average, 20-30 hours/week ** hours during September will be higher Compensation: To be negotiated based on experience and structure of hours About BVHS: Bow Valley Hockey Society was established in 1987 and today consists of over 800 members. Communities that make up BVHS are: Auburn Bay, Cranston, Douglasdale Estates, Mahogony, McKenzie Lake, Seton. BVHS Mission: BVHS is committed to providing players an opportunity to grow as individuals and gain self-esteem through a positive hockey experience that emphasizes fun, participation, development, safety and respect. BVHS will strive to accomplish these goals in a consistent, transparent and collaborative environment that encourages the participation of coaches and parents. Job Description Duties / Responsibilities: -Oversee and administer hockey operations -Implement BVHS policies and guidelines -Participate on BVHS working committees -Administer and maintain BVHS website -Oversee player and goalie evaluations -Support the allocation of ice amongst BVHS teams -Mentor and assess coaches – practice and game situations – resolve issues -Observe and evaluate team practices regularly -Administer Bow Valley hockey clinics -Coordinate BVHS coach surveys and assist with coach selection -Maintain and organize player information -Support BVHS fundraising initiatives and corporate sponsorship requirements -Assist with the branding of BVHS -Account for BVHS on-ice equipment -Coordinate BVHS on-ice skills testing -Other responsibilities as required Job Requirements / Experience: -Good organization and communication skills -Experience working with volunteers -Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in sensitive situations -Hockey knowledge, as a player, coach or manager -Office knowledge, as a volunteer, employee or manager -Strong computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) -Flexible work hours (some weekends and evenings (September) -Valid driver’s license Core Competencies: -Leadership: Ability to lead volunteers both on-ice and off-ice and to make and initiate decisions. -Teamwork: Knowledge, skill and ability to work effectively with others to promote the mission of BVHS. -Communication: Ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles. -Initiative: Think critically and act logically to evaluate situations that often have competing interests. >>If interested, please send resume, including references, in confidence by June 21, 2013 to: BVHS Vice President - [email protected]
