Buhari, Shekarau invite people to join APC in Kaduna. Former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) and the former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, yesterday called on people in Kaduna state to register massively in the newly registered All Progressive Change (APC) party. Former FCT Minister, Malam Nasiru el-Rufai and former Kaduna State governor Col. Ja’afaru Isa yesterday called on the people of Kaduna State to register massively in the newly registered All Progressive Change (APC). Speaking separately at the venue of a national conference tagged, “Nigeria: The New Vision,” which was organized by the Movement For Better Future and Democratic Movement, Buhari said the APC was targeting to register 50 million Nigerians. “APC was formed through merger to consume PDP. We must burry our differences and fight for a common goal. We will build our party through three cardinal principles of discipline, justice and unity,” he said through his representative and former governor of Kaduna state, Col Hameed Ali (rtd). He said the new party was on its way of taken over the villa in 2015. For his part, Shekarau said every voice would count in the APC, while calling on people of state to stop voting for parties that have nothing to offer. “As far as APC is concerned, North-West is a walkover because those in government from the North-West are not a threat to us. What happened in the past is a different game entirely, because we have never had total merger and we are going to be fair to all parties,” he said. Shekarau said APC was not only concerned about changing government, but was also concerned about changing the life of ordinary Nigerians. Similarly, the interim national chairman of APC, who was represented by interim national secretary of the party, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, urged people to pick membership cards of the party. “We have no godfathers in this party. If the registration of members commence, all should register and select good people to stand for elections. In Kaduna, we are in deep discussion with a PDP faction to join the APC. Provided they are ready to adhere to our rules, we will receive them,” Akande said. -SUNDAY TRUST
