But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. (2 Peter 3:8-10 ESV) My Lord is patient toward me! What a precious thought this morning. Our Comforter and our Rock is not slow to fulfill His promises as we see it sometimes, His desire is that none should perish, but that all come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I want that as well. But as I child I can remember my thoughts were all about me. Predictions of the end times only made me fear that The Lord would return before I had the chance to experience the awkwardness of my first kiss, the joy of walking down the isle to say yes to my husband on our wedding day, or the thrill of holding my own baby! I prayed that The Lord would delay His coming till I got to experience all these wonderful things. Most teenage girls feel the same today I learned not so long ago during a discussion with my 9th and 10th grade girls Sunday school class. The thought of a patient Lord is comforting, however we must remember His patience is toward His own. We must be busy doing His work telling others of His great love for them while harvest is plentiful, but also remember He tells us the laborers few. No one knows the day or the hour of the Lords return, but one thing is for sure, we are closer now than weve ever been before. Im ready for that day are you? Lord, I love You so much! Thank You for being patient with us! Thank You for fulfilling every promise! Help us follow in Your footsteps and be a people of our word, fulfilling our promises to others and being patient with even the most unlovely people. We cant do this on our own, Lord, so fill us to overflowing with Your love and Your mercy and Your grace. May others know You through our actions and reactions. We give You all honor and all glory and all praise! You are so very worthy!!!!
