C Gardner Best Answer - Chosen by Asker There are over six billion people in the world, and about 1.5 billion are included in some form of the Christian religion. The second largest group are Muslims, with about 1.3 billion. However, because someone is listed in a census as being Christian does not make them one. A Christian is one who, having trusted in Jesus, has received His new life. The number of true Christians may be closer to 500 million or so. That would mean, then that the census count of Christians is 25% of the world population, while the actual believers would be about 8-10%. Oops, I was using 1995 figures. More up to date: World population stands at 6.3 billion. Christians number just under 2 billion, so that 32.5 percent are Christians and 77.5 are non-Christians. Muslims are still about 1.3 billion or 21 percent. Real Christians are probably a bit more than I said, about 600 million or almost 10 percent. Source(s): Operation World
