Costco--a good employer: I have been aware that according to the media, Costco is considered a very good employer and a place with very good employee morale. Costco was formerly known as Price Club, founded by a man named Sol Price. This afternoon, I went to Costco to get a flat tire fixed. While waiting, I struck up a conversation with one of the workers, an older guy (meaning probably my age or younger!) named Kevin. He told me that he had been working there for 25 years. I was amazed that a tire shop had an employee with 25 years service and who was still going strong. Kevin told me that his daughter had been born with a form of leukemia. Robert Price--son of the founder--took him out to dinner and told him that they dont want him to have to worry about the medical bills. Price Club was going to pay it. Ultimately, Price Club paid $109,000.00 for his daughters medical bills. I asked him how old his daughter was now. He said she was 21 and currently working inside, as we speak.
