CALEXICO-The citys search for an interim city manager came to an end today, when council members named Richard Warne to the position during a special meeting. Formerly the 29 Palms city manager, Warne is expected to begin his tenure July 1, when his contract is scheduled for approval during the citys regular council meeting. Deputy City Attorney Randall Sjoblom explained this was due to the fact that a change in the Brown Act allows executive government positions to be appointed during special meetings, though salaries and contracts must be discussed and approved during regular council meetings. What we liked about him is that he is very open, very committed, said Mayor Bill Hodge. We have to be confident that he can make the right moves--progressive, positive moves.
