CARITAS TO BUILD SHELTERS FOR 160 FLOOD DISPLACED FAMILIES OF J&K “Caritas India to build 110 in situ shelters in Kashmir and another 50 in Jammu for the flood displaced families” informed DRR Thematic Manager Anjan Bag who is leading the Caritas Emergencies team in the Jammu and Kashmir. The prototype shelters have the approval of the district administration and also have the consent of the local community. The 16x16 feet single room shelter with attached toilets is being built using insulation technology to endure the harsh winters in the valley. The Kashmir based shelter project worth seventy lakhs is expected to be ready for possession by December 20. Additionally each family will receive complete home essentials that include winter blankets and kitchen utensils from the government. Caritas India is the only Non-governmental organization that has the approval of the local district administration for such massive shelter project. The project is jointly supported by Arti Foundation and Empathy Foundation.
