CAUTION: Apparently there are people traveling around in vehicles offering to cut down trees or clear debris in peoples yard... These people have no apparent tools with them - chain saws, machetes or anything that would say they were legit tree trimmers. DO NOT ENGAGE ANYONE that comes to you without credentials or ID. There ARE LEGITIMATE ASSESSMENT TEAMS travelling around, but they will identify the organization they are working under. The reason a team goes down in advance of a crew is that even if there is a report on debris, it needs to be checked, because if it is a tangerine tree that got uprooted they dont want to send six guys out...hopefully from here there will be a shorter interval between assessment and the work. Teams from Rubicon and hands.org will have IDs, forms and usually appointments at this point. You might also be liable if an independent gets hurt during clearing your property. The teams working under Rubicon and hands.org will have waivers with them.
