CBS Sports ~ Playing the Seattle Seahawks really, really takes a toll on teams. NFL teams are 0-8 since October the week after playing the Seahawks The only thing more difficult than playing the Seahawks is playing the game after you play the Seahawks. Beating Seattle is difficult enough, but apparently, winning the game after that is even harder. Since Week 7, NFL teams are 0-8 after playing the Seahawks. Its the ultimate NFL hangover. This is bad news for the Cardinals, who play Seattle this Sunday. If Arizona were to lose to Seattle and then lose its next game, that would drop the Cardinals to 11-5 and to a possible sixth seed in the NFC playoffs. Arizona has already been a victim of this streak once: The Cardinals surprisingly lost to the Falcons in Week 13, just one week after playing the Seahawks. Heres a look at the Seahawks schedule since Week 7 and what happened to their opponent the following week. Week 7: At St. Louis. The Rams beat the Seahawks, but lost to the Chiefs 34-7 in Week 8. Week 8: At Carolina. The Panthers lost to the Seahawks, then got spanked the next week in a 28-10 loss to the Saints. Week 9: Home vs. Raiders. One week after losing to the Seahawks, the Raiders hosted Denver and were blown out 41-17. Week 10: Home vs. Giants. After losing to the Seahawks, the Giants hosted the 49ers and lost 16-10. Week 11: At Kansas City. This might be the craziest part of the streak. The Chiefs upset the Seahawks in Kansas City in Week 11, but then went on the road the next week and lost 24-20 to the previously winless Raiders. Week 12: Home vs. Arizona. As mentioned before, the Cardinals lost to the Seahawks in Week 12, then followed that up with a loss to the Falcons 29-18 in Week 13. The Falcons were 4-7 going into the game. Week 13: At 49ers. After losing to the Seahawks on Thanksgiving, the 49ers traveled across the bay to Oakland in Week 14 and lost 24-13 to the Raiders. Oakland can basically thank Seattle for both of its wins this season. Week 14: At Eagles. The Eagles couldnt end the Seattle streak either. The Eagles followed up a Week 14 loss to Seattle with a 38-27 loss to the Cowboys in Week 15. Thats eight weeks of football and eight losses for teams coming off of a game against Seattle. Basically, you should bet on San Diego this week. For the streak to end, the collapsing 49ers would have to beat the Chargers, who still have playoff hopes in the AFC. So why are teams so bad after they play the Seahawks? The Seahawks do punch you in the mouth when they play you. Seattles physical and that could take a toll on an opponent that lasts until the next game. Theres also the trap game possibility. Teams like the 49ers and Chiefs were so ampd up for the Seahawks that the next game was a trap game. The Raiders are pretty easy to overlook. cbssports
