CCC FB Group Improvement Suggestion # 2/14: Site not - TopicsExpress

CCC FB Group Improvement Suggestion # 2/14: Site not interesting? CCC has asked for suggestions to improve this FB group. Here is the second CCC FB Group Improvement Suggestion, by regular contributor, Valer Eugen Demian: Suggestion 2: Get feedback from the remaining members what they want to see happening here and would attract them to participate. All you do so far is hook them up and tell them to get involved in the existing discussions if they see something they like. I think I can count less than 20 in total who truly are participating since I joined and this is a disappointing percentage if you really think about it. This has been dismissed in the past by the argument they get information. Obviously it is not a valid one since the participation is the same, so it is not me saying it. It is the feedback ignored so far. *Response of the 4 CCC FB Co-Managers:* We agree with Valers suggestion, and are therefore implementing it. CCC has taken the following approach: IF we generate interesting and informative chess posts, by the 4 CCC FB Co-managers [myself, Bob Armstrong (Canada), Abbey Alo (Ghana), Joe Fatula (USA) and Ken Kurkowski (Canada)], and by other of our Likes, and good responsive comments, then this modelling will encourage all Likes to do the same: post and comment more! Now, CCC is also aware that in the FB culture, most users are only interested in being RECEIVERS. This means that only a few of you will, from time to time, be moved to contribute to the group (post or comment). For some this is a new thing, going public, but we have hoped, as you see others do it, you also will become comfortable actively contributing. We know you like to get posts in your news feed from friends, groups, and organizations, to read and consider (and you do read many of them, if not all). But many of you have no intention yourselves of CONTRIBUTING. Only a small portion of FB users on any site are true CONTRIBUTORS - post/comment somewhat regularly on issues of interest to them. So CCC has been satisfied with our progress re posting/commenting to date. But what we have noticed, is that many of you are willing to indicate you have seen and like some material! There has been quite an upward spike on the number of likes of our posts. This is an encouraging factor - we hope these Likes will progress from liking to commenting to posting! But Valer suggests this approach is NOT working! Valer says our results as a site are disappointing: I think I can count less than 20 in total who truly are participating.... Two conflicting point of views: CCC saying progress is as expected in the FB culture and CCC is doing it right vs Valers statement that it should be better than it is, and CCC is not doing it right! So to solve this dilemma, we are implementing right now Valers suggestion. We four CCC FB Co-Managers are now seeking feedback, and asking all Likes to post/comment on: What more do you Likes want to see happening here in this group and what would attract you to participate more? Maybe CCC and all our Likes will learn more about what Likes are looking for!! And then we can try to take steps to improve this group accordingly! Thanks from the 4 CCC FB Co-Managers.
