CIA torture report is finally released, much to the chagrin of plenty of officials. Go skim it. Or dont and read some summaries. Its nasty stuff anyway you look at it. In short, our government tortured the shit out of a bunch of people and no one involved went to jail over it, although legal action was threatened against at least some of the journalists who investigated it. I have little hope we wont have another one of these reports in 10 years unless those responsible see jail time for their actions. If youre at all interested some of the CIAs actions/coverups on this, this was a fantastic panel at HOPE X this past summer about Alfreda Frances Bikowsky, whos been involved in plenty of the CIAs failures, including but not limited to torture programs and extraordinary rendition.
