CITY OF CAPE TOWN 8 SEPTEMBER 2013 STATEMENT BY THE EXECUTIVE MAYOR, ALDERMAN PATRICIA DE LILLE Mayor offers R50 000 reward in the cases of Shaskia Michaels and Kauthar Bobbs Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de Lille today offered a R50 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect identified in the case of the missing 4 year old Shaskia Michaels, who disappeared on Thursday, or for information in the case of Kauthar Bobbs, who disappeared last October. This follows this morning’s search efforts, in which the Mayor, accompanied the Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman Jean-Pierre Smith, Disaster Management volunteers, the City’s law enforcement agencies together with the SAPS, Mitchell’s Plain Community Police Forum and the family searched for the missing child without success. “As a parent, I can only imagine what Shaskia’s family is going through. I will continue to do everything I can to assist. I hope that the reward money will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators” said Ald. de Lille. The City will this week deploy Disaster Management volunteers and contracted workers under the City’s EPWP to the area to continue with the search.
