COMR. EYISI FACILITATES THE RELEASE OF ARRESTED STUDENTS Yesterday, the President, Students Union Government of this institution, Comrade Noble Eyisi in his bid to always stand in for the students facilitated the release of two students from the faculty of law who were detained wrongly. The students who were involved in a misunderstanding with a betting manager were arrested by the police who acted on a wrong information. According to one of the presidential aides, the students were involved in a bet and won but the bet man did not want to pay dem. They invited the school security to compel the person in charge to pay but were only paid half of the money. The security unit seized the bet mans laptop and printer to facilitate the payment but instead the bet man invited the police who arrested the boys. All efforts to reach the bet man to comment on the issue proved abortive as his mobile lines werent reachable. Comrade Eyisi who sat at the police station till 9:45pm saw to the release of the detained students. According to him, his administration would always stand for the students in time of their need as long as it is right and just, however cautioning against involvement in acts that are unlawful. In a related development, the president was present at the scene of an accident which occurred yesterday night at the UNIZIK temporary site. The ghastly accident, claimed at least one life and had about four vehicles damaged, at the popular and congested UNIZIK temporary site. The driver of a trailer lost control of the brake of the vehicle and rammed into a Toyota Salon car whose occupants later escaped unhurt. In a bid not to wreck more havoc, the trailer driver swerved to the right side of the road crushing a keke driver instantly. The on lookers made straight for the driver of the trailer in a bid to carrying out jungle justice, save for the prompt intervention of the security personnel who whisked the driver away. The number one student of the institution, speaking with our reporter, stated that he had to leave what he was doing as soon as he was alerted, to ascertain the level of damage on a first hand basis and to ensure no UNIZIK student was involved. Comr.
