CONCEALED-CARRY Classes scheduled for June 22-23 in Aberdeen: The Sportsman’s Club of Brown County is sponsoring concealed-carry training classes on Saturday and Sunday. Chad Engen, a certified concealed-carry instructor, will be conducting the classes, which start at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. on Sunday. All classes will be held at the Terry O’Keefe Education Center at the Brown County Rifle Range, located 5.5 miles south of the junction of Hwys. 12 and 281. This class will cover methods of avoiding attacks, safe gun handling, concealed-carry techniques. In addition, federal and state laws regarding purchase, ownership, transportation and possession of handguns will be covered, as well as use of force and degrees of assault. The class will allow you to apply for a Utah permit, which allows persons to carry a concealed handgun in 34 different states, including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and many other surrounding states where South Dakota licenses are not recognized.
