COUNCIL HAS JUST LAUNCHED A NEW PROGRAM TO ASSIST CHILDREN LIVING IN WHEELCHAIRS TO BECOME MORE INDEPENDENT There is a fun, new active program to help young people with a disability develop their wheelchair skills. The Active Parks Wheelchair Skills program would be held from October 2014 until June 2015 with free weekend sessions available at a number of accessible playgrounds across Brisbane. The Active Parks Wheelchair Skills program is about supporting young people with a disability to lead healthy and active lifestyles. Council has partnered with George Kambouris who runs the Living on Wheels program in Brisbane to deliver the program. George was born with Spina Bifida but has never let being in a wheelchair stop him from enjoying life. He has represented his country in a number of National, Pacific and International sporting events. For a full list of dates and times available visit Council’s website and look up the Active Parks events calendar: brisbane.qld.gov.au/whats-on/events-listed-type/sports-recreation-programs/active-parks-events or call Council on (07) 3403 8888. To reserve your place, contact George Kambouris at Living on Wheels on 0411 797 500 or email [email protected]
