CURRENT AND URGENT SITUATION: The lasted decade civil crisis had worsened the rate of illiteracy, given birth to all sort of vices in the Liberian society. People affected with disability in Liberia are being abandoned at mercy of the time due to lack of social funds for welfare, scholastics and employment opportunities and they are sometimes victims of social discriminations. This situation has rendered the physically challenged vulnerable and has compelled them to engage into street begging and other dehumanizing activities for survival and thereby tarnishing the dignity and morals that preserve the image of a nation. Obviously the nation of Liberia cannot and will not be built with these current trends of life experienced by section of its citizenry There is therefore a crucial need to train and educate the physically challenged of Liberia not just in the domain of academia, but in diverse fields of expertise of their choices in order to produce quality human resource for the nation. Executive summary The reconstruction of Liberia will not always depend on grants from international donors. But setting up educative and empowerment programs to train in order to produce qualified human resource that will be capable of thinking and taking actions that will protect the interest of the nation and render it economically competitive among nations of the world will be the way forward. The Jerryan C. Dennis Foundation for Excellence is coming as part of the nation building process of post war country Liberia to introduce skills training and development projects to the disable people of Liberia as tools of exposure for sustainable development. His Excellency John F. Kennedy once stated that “ It is high time that citizens ask themselves what can I do for my country instead of what can my country do for me” end of quotation, prompted the creation of the Jerryan C. Dennis Foundation for Excellence to provide training to the Physically challenged of Liberia especially the youths (Young women and girls and young men) in diverse skills and empowerment projects so that they will acquire professional aptitude and achieve socio-economic independence.
