CURRENT WHEREABOUTS OF ASHWATTHAMA (Last post in Ashwatthama series) There are two possibilities, each is equally plausible. One states that Ashwatthama has taken to Himalayas where he cannot be found by the people of this time. The other, however, is far more gripping. There is an Indian village near Burhanpur, where there is an old dilapidated fort called Asirgarh which is an ancient tomb. There is a Shiva ling there (remember that Ashwatthama is a great devotee of Shiva). The locals speak of a 12 foot man who roams those areas. The locals do not leave their homes after dark in fear of this man although there has been no cases of any harm done by Ashwatthama. He also offers a fresh flower to the Shiva-ling every morning. The locals say that no matter how early you arrive at the temple, there will always be a fresh flower there. The curious thing about this phenomenon is that the kind of flower that Ashwatthama puts on the Shiva Linga is not found within 100s of km from the place. If your desire to see the remnant of Mahabharat, a 5,000 year old man is too great, you may go to Asirgarh fort which is 20 km north of Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh and find out for yourself. However tread carefully, you will not see divine figures if they do not want to be seen. You can always talk to the locals. If you are from Burhanpur, please tell us more. This is the last post in the Ashwatthama series. Hope you enjoyed.
