Can feminist types weigh in on this? I think the writer is being unfair. She asks what Joss Whedon is doing about the lack of female superheroes on the big screen. You dont have to be terribly familiar with his work to know female superheroes are sort of his thing and this is hardly idle talk. Also, all the stuff equality not being a natural state for many women in the world seems like equivocation. Her criticism is based on taking social structures as natural, which is clearly not what he meant. Theres plenty to criticize about his feminism. In particular, he seems prone to wooey girl-power versions of feminism, but this isnt valid as far as I can tell.
