Cant we just cut our way out of this? Hardly. This isnt a were-spending-too-much-money problem, its a we-cut-off-millions-in-revenue problem. And expenses will continue to climb, everything from Medicaid and KPERS to K-12 and higher education, every year. The tax cuts were supposed to pay for themselves, but they havent so far. Thats why Brownback raised the sales tax, to make up for the drop in income tax revenue.
