Carpenter required; Loft Conversions About us We operated in the Devon & Somerset area on domestic properties. Working hours are Mon-Fri, 8-5 except 4pm finish on Friday. Most of the work is carried out via a scaffold so use of ladders essential. Your duties would include, working from plans and following verbal instructions, fixing of steel beams, floor joists & flooring, insulating & plaster boarding, construction of dormer windows, pitched and flat roof type plus fitting of UPVc facia & windows, framing and insertion of velux windows, removing ceiling and walls, fitting staircases along with handrails & spindles, hanging fire doors in existing door frames, 2nd fixing etc. We pride ourselves on good customer relations. We expect you to keep client’s homes clean and tidy and respect their homes. All our staff work closely together, we don’t need any dramas so bring a good sense of humour and the ability to muck in and you will find us a great firm to work for. About you Quality, tidy workmanship required. We prefer you to get the job done correctly first time so we do not push timescales but require a good rate of productivity. An ability to “get along” with people is essential as you will need to be able to work as a team and communicate with our customers. You must be self-motivated; we all work for the good of the firm. Very cliché but we only want a team player. This does not suit some “site carpenters” that may be skilled but cannot work in a domestic environment. You must have a basic tool kit but some power tools can be provided, Clean driving licence, over 25 of age, transport will be required, we will cover you fuel etc. on an agreed mileage amount, paid holidays and a stake holder pension can be offered. Work is of a very manual nature so suits a fit and healthy person, we operate a no smoking policy at all customer houses plus all vans, This position as listed is a permanent one so we require a person that also require a long employment rather than to temporary “gap filler”. Before any trial period commences we would require two references, at least one must be from a previous employer. We also require a copy of your P60 and carryout CRB checks to all staff as part of our membership of various trade bodies. The first twelve weeks will be a trial period paid at a rate to be discussed according to experience Upon successful completion your rate of pay may get reviewed subject to experience.
