Casting Net: Jude Law (The Grand Budapest Hotel) is in talks to join Melissa McCarthy (The Heat) and Rose Byrne (Insidious: Chapter 2) in the upcoming spy comedy Susan Cooper. Jason Statham (The Transporter) has also been confirmed to co-star in the upcoming film, which centers on the adventures of a James Bond-esque female spy. Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) is in talks to join Disney’s live-action version of The Jungle Book. Currently, the actor is in the final stages of negotiations to lend his voice to the character of Shere Khan the tiger. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is set to direct the upcoming film, based on the classic novel by Rudyard Kipling about a boy named Mowgli raised by wolves in the jungle. Martin Sheen (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) has signed up to join the cast of an untitled Howard Hughes project being helmed by Warren Beatty (Bonnie and Clyde). Beatty will produce and star in the upcoming film as Hughes himself. The film is based on Hughes’ assistant (Blue Jasmine‘s Alden Ehrenreich) and his love interest (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones‘ Lily Collins). Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Omar Elba (Depression Revolution), Tracey Fairaway (Enough Said), David Menkin (Zero Dark Thirty), and Tom Skerritt (Alien) have all joined the cast of A Hologram for the King, starring Tom Hanks (Captain Phillips). Based on the novel by Dave Eggers, the upcoming comedic drama stars Hanks as a struggling businessman who heads to a Saudi Arabian city in an effort to attempt to put off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great with his life. The Avengers: Age of Ultron actor Thomas Kretschmann will play villain Le Clerq in Fox International’s upcoming action flick Agent 47. Kretschmann joins Star Trek‘s Zachary Quinto and Homeland‘s Rupert Friend, both of whom have signed on to star in the upcoming sequel to 2007′s action film, Hitman. Kretschmann will play the chairman of Syndicate International, an organization set on creating an army of unstoppable agents in the upcoming film based on the best-selling video game.
