Caution urged in taking ballot pics Voters going to the polls - TopicsExpress

Caution urged in taking ballot pics Voters going to the polls Tuesday may be tempted take a picture of their ballot and share their vote with their social media friends. That is probably fine, said State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax, as long as the photo is not shared from within the voting booth. “I would urge voters to exercise caution in photographing their ballot and sharing it on social media,” Ziriax said. Oklahoma statutes provide: “No person shall, within the election enclosure, disclose to any other person how he voted; nor shall any person expose his ballot to any other person.” But, noted Ziriax, there is a difference between what is done in the voting booth and what is done outside of it. “The issue, in my mind, would be where it occurred,” Ziriax said. “As long as it is not in the location where the voting occurred, not within the election enclosure, it would appear to be permitted.” For the full report, go to ecapitol.net
