The bout was contested for St-Pierres Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight title. The decision was further tainted as St-Pierre announced a hiatus from MMA in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. Compounding the issue was UFC President Dana Whites rant about how St-Pierre owed the fans and promotion a rematch with Johny Hendricks, which was panned in the media. It seems like even after a week and a Manny Pacquiao fight, people are still discussing the Las Vegas screwjob. The latest person to jump in on the action is Chael Sonnen, who sent out a tweet last week saying that UFC Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis would smash GSP. Sonnen may not be too off base with this assessment. Without question, UFC 167 was St-Pierres worst performance since he won the welterweight title. It was obviously close, but it wasnt the typical St-Pierre bout that fans have come to expect of the champion. Though in this case, it should be said that Sonnen is talking about the fan voting for the cover of EA Sports UFC title and not an actual fight. But a boy can dream, right? And while were dong some fantasy matchmaking, I love this potential fight. But Im not gonna hold my breath because theres no way that it gets booked.
