Chamber Post in Partnership with the Long Hill Police Department: (LONG HILL TOWNSHIP, NJ) The following release is for all related police activity during the week of October 4, 2014 to October 10, 2014. October 4, 2014 Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 12:37 p.m. on New Vernon Road near White Bridge Road. Jonmichae Scribner, 20 years of age from Berkeley Heights, was traveling south on New Vernon Road. Scribner lost control of his vehicle as he entered a curve, went off the roadway, and struck a guardrail. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported. Scribner was issued a summons for a graduated driver’s license passenger restriction. Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 12:40 p.m. in the parking lot of 1153 Valley Road (Shoprite). Jennifer Curran, 43 years of age from Basking Ridge, was pulling into a parking space when she struck a shopping cart. The cart was set in motion and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing damage. The parked vehicle was a green 2013 Toyota Camry. As a result of the crash no summonses were issued and no injuries were reported. Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 1:14 p.m. on Valley Road near Plainfield Road. Mark Rossman, 53 years of age from Berkeley Heights, was traveling west on Valley Road, making a left turn into the parking lot of 977 Valley Road. Kaye Scholl, 67 years of age from Gillette, was stopped at the stop sign if the Valley Road exit from the Valley Mall. Scholl failed to yield to Rossman, pulled out to turn left, and struck his vehicle causing damage. As a result of the crash no summonses were issued and no injuries were reported. October 5, 2014 Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Valley Road to investigate a reported theft. The victim reported several items of Jewelry have been stolen, potentially by contractors that had worked at the residence between September 8, 2014 and September 25, 2014. Police are continuing their investigation. October 7, 2014 Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 10:30 a.m. on Division Avenue by Long Hill Road. Michael Pantoja, 36 years of age from Basking Ridge, was traveling south on Division Avenue when he struck the lowered railroad crossing gate with activated lights and audible warning bells. Pantoja stated that he “dozed off” prior to the crash. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported. Pantoja was issued a summons for improper crossing at railroad grade. Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 12:42 p.m. in the parking lot of 1153 Valley Road (Shoprite). Marion Horrer, 80 years of age from Basking Ridge, was attempting to park in a vacant parking space when she struck a parked unoccupied vehicle, 2014 silver Lexus. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported. Horrer was issued a summons for careless driving. ARRESTED-While on patrol at about 4:31 p.m. on White Bridge Road, police investigated a suspicious vehicle. Upon further investigation, police later identified the driver as Fabian Ramos-Torres, 23 years of age from Newark. Fabian provided a false name and date of birth in an attempt to avoid discovery of several outstanding warrants. Police located the appropriate warrants and arrested Fabian. Fabian was charged and processed for hindering apprehension, warrants, and driving while suspended. After a family member posted bail, Fabian was released pending a Court date. October 9, 2014 Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 11:17 a.m. in the parking lot of 91 Northfield Road (Millington School). A United States Postal delivery truck was parked facing north unoccupied in front of the school. Jill Long, 42 years of age from Gillette, was backing out of a parking space and backed into the mail truck causing minimal damage. As a result of the crash no summonses were issued and no injuries were reported. October 10, 2014 Police investigated a motor vehicle crash on Plainfield Road near Metzler Place. Tyler Familo, 18 years of age from Warren, was stopped at the stop sign of the Valley Mall exit to Plainfield Road. Gwendolyn Thomas, 56 years of age from Plainfield, was traveling south on Plainfield road and began making a left turn into the Valley Mall entrance. Familo pulled out onto Plainfield Road striking Thomas’ vehicle. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported. Familo was issued a summons for failure to yield. Police and firefighters responded to 3 fire related emergency calls during the week. Police and the first aid squad responded to 10 medical calls during the week. The information may not represent the total scope of police activity. Anyone charged as a result of a police investigation is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
