Chapter 2! Update....we still need about $800 to raise the minimum amount needed to fund this project! :) To help us reach the minimum requirement, simply click on the link below, purchase a $25, $40, $60, or $100 gift e-card, and send the code you receive via email, to wendy@fun-junkie. Not only will your e-gift card purchase materials needed to pamper the little girls hospitalized at Scottish Rite (and possibly their mommies and nurses if enough is collected), but 30% of your purchase will be donated to Scottish Rite as a cash donation! So youre giving a monetary donation AND a gift of cheer :) funjunkienails.jamberrynails.net/category/gift-certificates So...back to Malori Steadmans story... Monday, January 11, 1999 Around 9am the nurse gave Mal medicine to relax her. Jeff Isham and I were then allowed to accompany Malori to the holding room. Wow...I remember the sadness I felt as they wheeled her away. I had held in my tears all morning so that Mal wouldnt worry about ME (yeah thats the kind of person she is! Shes going off to get metal rods fused in her back but if I were to cry she would be trying to comfort ME! haha!). But when she left the room, I lost it. 7 hours later we were allowed to see her in the recovery room (Jeff and I only). And she responded when I touched her. :) Before too long, Malori was taken back to her room where everyone got to come in and see her. She was grey in color and her face was swollen. We were all very concerned. Look at sweet baby Kellsie Ishams face. She had never seen her sissy look like this...well, none of us had....but for a 4 year old, this was quite scary :( From the beginning the staff at Scottish Rite was attentive to Malori AND VERY sensitive to us! They were so understanding and sweet. I think the care of the staff helped Mal heal faster and helped calm the nerves of Mals loved ones :)
