Chapter 36: Complaints ‘Break’s up!’ A collective groan could be heard throughout the class as they all struggled to their feet. ‘This is the last part of the lesson, we’re going to go over what we have done in today’s lesson. I will tone down the intensity as I am such a nice teacher. I will shout out the names in English, but you will have to learn the Japanese in order to grade. Alex muttered something under his breath, ‘nice teacher my arse.’ ‘Oh?’ said Marcus. ‘Did you just say something? Alex?’ ‘No.’ ‘Good!’ The class all went over last drill of punches as kicks with no enthusiasm; weak punches and kicks were given by every member, even Kenan was struggling. ‘That last performance pathetic,but good for first day, I guess… Anyway, shower off and get changed, your lunch break starts now.’ It had just gone 11:40. ‘Your element manipulation lesson starts at 15:00.’ They all went to the changing room, showered and got dressed back into their robes. Joel could hear the boys’ complains echo throughout the changing room. “Bloody hell! What a lesson!” “Is he trying to kill us or what, it’s only our first lesson. What does he expect? I hate that teacher!” Hearing these comments didn’t really make Joel feel any better than he did now, but he could understand where they were coming from. Some part of him also thought he Marcus was going a bit too harsh on them. As they were leaving, Kenan asked everyone if they wanted to eat together at lunch. ‘Are you all up for it? I’ll let RiRi know about it too.’ ‘Sorry’ Jeans said. ‘I can’t, I have to go somewhere.’ Joel wasn’t so keen on going without somebody he was familiar with, but he thought he had nothing better to do and that he had to mix in with everybody sometime soon. ‘Sure! I’m in.’
