Children in care locally are having to wait nearly two years to be adopted. A new study shows that in Kirklees, an average of 712 days elapses between a child being placed in care and moving in with an adoptive family. The average waiting time in England is 647 days. In Calderdale, the situation is even worse, with a 743-day, or 102-week, wait for children to find a new home, according to statistics released by the Department for Education. examiner.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/vulnerable-childrens-two-year-wait-adopted-6624493
