Choice between civilian courts and military courts: 1. Military - TopicsExpress

Choice between civilian courts and military courts: 1. Military courts are speedy but known for dispensing injustice rather than justice most of the time. 2. Civilian courts are notoriously inefficient and tardy but more reliable for dispensing justice than military courts. The question is: Can civil courts deal with the terrorists more effectively and speedily? Is the civil courts record of dealing with terrorism not dismal? Can they be relied on now? In any case, the military courts are coming. They will be resisted by the same apologists and supporters of the terrorists who are supporting the anti-terrorist package today. I have no qualms in standing with them in opposing the military courts but should I? The military courts will be up and going. They will most certainly be indulging in excesses, but they will be there nevertheless. We may then continue to oppose the military courts as such or seek to monitor and oppose their excesses. In any case, I am absolutely certain the civilian courts cannot deliver justice to the terrorists. Please refrain from tracing the background of the elements and threads of the present situation and pontificating on democracy and military rule. I know I have always been more confused than most of my comrades, but there I am. I seek your guidance.
