Christmas Present for Jesus The Godhead is looking for people who will worship in spirit and in truth. Therere few presents better to give Jesus this Christmas with intention to followthrough everyday of every year. Not just in organized church services, but primarily when alone in private. Church too often has too many traditions and time restrictions to encourage the full gambit of worship expressions that please the Lord. Most churchgoers and clergy fail to understand that worship is not intended to be merely a preliminary to a sermon. Biblically, worship is an end unto itself. Complete expression of devotion to God requires elements of reckless abandonment that pays no mind to how one looks or sounds in its exercise. Of course, theres dignified bowing of the head; kneeling; lifting hands; clapping; and singing that are acceptable most anywhere. But, authentic worship also entails bodily expressions and sounds that are not universally welcome in church services. Exuberant loud shouting of praises extolling Gods greatness and wild spinning and dancing tend to raise eyebrows. Singing and shouting in unknown tongues as a means of giving the Lord superior articulations of thanks has sent more than a few Charismatics in search of a new church home. This is why full worship expression in our day requires private cultivation and practice. Psalms 95:7 gives the most precious result of full bodily expression of devotion to Almighty God: Today you will hear his voice. Certainly the sermons of the cleverest of men dont inevitably deliver that priceless commodity.
