@Christopher Mahoney: Exactly. Scientific truth is based on scientific method (Hypothesis, Predictions based on hypothesis, Testing prediction against Observation (experimentation), Analysis, Conclusion). The concept of consensus (voting) is in the realm of politics, not science. The hypothesis of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) advocates is that the large relative percentage increase in an incredibly small absolute percentage of C02 in the atmosphere would cause dangerous increases in global atmospheric warming. Computer models based on this hypothesis were promoted and popularized in the late nineties and early 2000s (Inconvenient truth being the most notable example). There was real reason for concern because the models seemed to accurately fit the observable temperature increase in the atmosphere for prior decades. Since then, the CO2 has continued to increase in the atmosphere, but the temperature has not continued to increase as predicted by the models. We are only talking about the last 15 years or so, so the jury is still out. As CM points out, the warming could start again, or this could very well be the beginning of a cooling cycle. What is absolutely undeniable right now, is that the computer models that precipitated the inconvenient truth CAGW panic of the the early 00s are inconveniently failing. Atmospheric CO2 is increasing. Atmospheric temperature is not. It might start again. It might not. The hypothesis might be right, the hypothesis might be wrong. The prediction models might be right, the prediction models might be wrong. AGW might be true, AGW may be false. Its going to take another decade or two to sort out the science. What is absolutely true is that the science is not settled. And ANYONE who uses the pejorative term denier in the AGW debate is anti-science and their opinions can be dismissed out of hand.
