Clarence “Pete” Monix, age 81. Of St. John. Passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013. He is survived by his wife Joann Monix of 55 years; daughter Donna (Tony) Kollak; two granddaughters Amanda (Jonathon) Parry and Samantha Kollak; brothers Bill (Mary) Monix, Fred (Helen) Monix, George (Nancy) Monix, Herman (late Sally) Monix; special brother-in-law Tim Kalizae and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Alfred (Adeline) Monix. Pete was a custom farmer until he began working for the Town of St. John. He worked part time until he became St. John’s first full time employee. Pete worked 48 years for the town and retired as the Director of Public Works. He was also a volunteer fire fighter for 50 years serving all positions up to and including Chief. Although twice retired Pete was still active on the BZA board and collected water samples for the state. He was a lifetime member of the S.L.C.A.H Society and a member of the St. John Historical Society. Visitation Sunday September 22, 2013 from 1-8 pm. Funeral Services Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Ln (1/2 block west of US 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th Ln). St. John.
