Community Service Message The Alberta Electric System Operator - TopicsExpress

Community Service Message The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is asking Albertans to conserve electricity this long weekend. Warm weather, low wind and long weekend power demands, combined with a planned B.C. intertim outage preventing Alberta from importing power, prompted AESO to issue the warning. “Our forecasts are indicating that supply on the grid will be tight, and we anticipate that electricity consumption will be high,” said operations vice president Mike Law in a release. “We are asking Albertans to help decrease overall demand on the grid by voluntarily reducing their use of electricity.” Albertans can conserve energy by shutting off unnecessary lights and appliances and limiting their use of air conditioning. AESO is also recommending people wait until after 7 p.m. to run dishwashers, washers and dryers.
