Compassion, generosity, and selfless acts IS NOT the Gospel. Jesus dying for the sins of the world and overcoming death IS the Gospel. The things Jesus done on earth reveal his nature and character (God). BECAUSE Jesus was compassionate, generous, selfless and more, he done these things AS HE WENT ABOUT accomplishing his purpose. We must never mistake his attributes and his ways as THE Gospel. When you see someone doing great/small selfless acts, its not the Gospel theyre doing, its the similarities and the looking like Jesus that draw attention and admiration. Jesus wasnt the only one multiplying bread and healing the sick (loosely said). The world can portray the ways of Jesus(sort of), but they lack the power and true source of resurrecting, life-changing, eternal connection with the Creator of the universe. Heres the point: in your looking/acting like Jesus, tell them the Good News. After all, because of what you believe and experienced, you live and do these things out of your love, affections, and gratitude to your Savior. Your works point to Jesus (disciple). :)
